A note from Dr. Yana Pekarski, DDS

Teething discomfort is real, and something safe to chew on genuinely helps. What I look for is one-piece construction with nothing that can detach, a material rated food-safe, and a size and shape a baby can hold and maneuver themselves. Chilling a teether in the fridge rather than the freezer is worth knowing — frozen teethers are hard enough to bruise sore gums.

Additional information

A teether and rattle in one — designed for the stage where a baby is doing three things at once: exploring with their mouth, learning that their hands belong to them, and discovering that shaking something makes a sound.

Two jobs, one object

Teething creates a genuine need for firm pressure on the gums. The textured surfaces give a baby something to work against, which is often more soothing than anything smooth. The rattle adds a reason to hold on: sound that responds to movement is one of the earliest cause-and-effect lessons, and reaching for it, grasping it, and moving it between hands are real motor milestones being practiced.

Easy for small hands

Shaped and weighted to be picked up, gripped, and passed hand to hand by a baby who is still working it out — light enough to hold, large enough not to disappear into a fist, and easy to bring to the mouth from any angle.

Safety

  • Inspect before every use and discard at the first sign of damage or wear
  • Chill in the refrigerator, never the freezer — a frozen teether is hard enough to bruise sore gums
  • Never attach to a cord, ribbon, or clip around a baby’s neck — it is a strangulation risk
  • Clean before first use and regularly thereafter
  • Always use under adult supervision

Material, dimensions, age suitability, and cleaning method are listed under Additional information — confirm against the packaging before use.

Questions

What does a silicone teether rattle do for a teething baby?

It is a teether and a rattle in one. The textured surfaces give a baby firm pressure to work against while teething, and the rattle gives a reason to hold on — reaching, grasping, and passing it hand to hand are motor milestones being practiced.

What colors does this teether rattle come in?

Seaside, Grey, and Artichoke.

Can you put a silicone teether in the freezer?

No. Chill it in the refrigerator, never the freezer — a frozen teether is hard enough to bruise sore gums.

How do you use a baby teether safely?

Inspect it before every use and discard at the first sign of damage or wear. Never attach it to a cord, ribbon, or clip around a baby's neck, which is a strangulation risk. Clean before first use and regularly after, and always use it under adult supervision.
