A note from Dr. Yana Pekarski, DDS
I look for three things in a pacifier: an orthodontic nipple shape that supports normal palate development, a one-piece design with no small parts that can separate, and a shield with ventilation holes. This one meets those. As with any pacifier, the more important factors are how long it's used and how it's weaned — prolonged use past the toddler years can affect how the jaw and palate develop. A one-piece pacifier designed around how a baby’s mouth actually develops. The SMILE Orthodontic Pro nipple uses a patented pre-formed shape that supports a natural palate and encourages the mouth to close around it, rather than forcing the tongue and jaw into an unnatural resting position. It was developed with pediatric dentist Dr. Trey Fellers, and it’s suitable from birth — for babies with teeth or without.
Why the shape matters
Pacifiers are not all the same. The nipple shape determines where the tongue rests and how the palate is loaded thousands of times a day. An orthodontic profile is designed to work with that development instead of against it. The notched shield keeps the pacifier positioned correctly and allows airflow against the skin, and the beaded handle gives sore gums something to press against — and a parent something easy to grip.
What’s in the design
- Patented one-piece construction — nothing to separate, so there are no small parts to come loose
- 100% medical-grade silicone — free of BPA, PFAS, phthalates, and latex
- CPSIA compliant and non-toxic
- Notched shield that guides placement and allows airflow
- Beaded handle to soothe sore gums
- 0m+ — suitable from birth, with or without teeth
- Easy to clean, and top-rack dishwasher safe
- Made in China
Using it well
The design of a pacifier matters, but two other things matter more: how long it’s used, and how it’s weaned. Prolonged pacifier use into the toddler years can affect how the jaw and palate develop, regardless of shape. Most guidance suggests beginning to reduce use in the second year.

Safety
- Inspect before every use — pull the nipple firmly in all directions and discard at the first sign of damage or wear
- Never attach a pacifier to a cord, ribbon, or clip around a baby’s neck — it is a strangulation risk
- Do not dip in sugar, honey, or any sweetener
- Clean before first use and regularly thereafter; replace as the manufacturer directs
- Always use under adult supervision
