How We Write and Who Reviews It

DrSensory is two things: a library of therapy and developmental content, and a directory of occupational, physical, and speech therapy clinics across the United States.
We cover children and adults. Most people arrive with a specific question — what a diagnosis means, whether a therapy is worth trying, how to get an evaluation, or who practices nearby. The site is built to answer those directly.
Clinical content is reviewed by a named licensed clinician when the topic is within a reviewer's field. Pages outside every reviewer's field, such as speech-language pages, are written and reviewed by our editorial team with sources shown.
How we decide what to publish
This is the part most health sites don't put in writing, and it's the part that matters. The full rules are in our editorial standards.
A named clinician reviews pages in their field
Where a page carries a clinical review, the reviewer is named, their credential is stated, and you can read their bio. Not "medically reviewed" with no name attached.
Reviewers only review inside their scope
A physical therapist reviews motor, sensory, and rehabilitation content. A dentist reviews dental and oral content. A licensed counselor reviews mental and behavioral health content. None of them reviews another's.
Where a page falls outside all three — speech-language pathology, neurology — it carries an editorial byline with the sources named, and we say so plainly rather than borrowing a credential that doesn't fit.
We show our sources
Claims about what works, how common something is, or what a diagnosis requires are attributed. We check citations before publishing — including that the study says what it's cited as saying.
We don't publish numbers we can't source
If a statistic can't be traced to a primary source, it doesn't go on the page. We'd rather explain what determines something than publish a figure that's wrong for most readers.
We say when the evidence is weak
Plenty of widely recommended interventions have thin evidence behind them. We say so, including when it's inconvenient — and including when the intervention is one our own readers are already using.
We update when the science changes
Diagnostic criteria change. Guidelines get revised. Pages carry a last-updated date, and when a position changes we change the page rather than leaving the old version up.
What we won't do
- We don't promise outcomes. No page here will tell you a therapy will fix something.
- We don't diagnose. Nothing on this site substitutes for assessment by a qualified professional, and we say so where it matters most.
- We don't guarantee rankings to the clinics we list. Anyone in this industry promising that is overselling.
- We don't publish anything a named clinician hasn't reviewed without saying so. Where a page carries an editorial byline instead of a clinical one, that's stated on the page.
The directory
3,799 occupational, physical, and speech therapy clinics across the United States. Listings are free for families, always.
How it works: listings are compiled from publicly available information. Providers can claim their listing to add detail, collect reviews, and receive inquiries directly. Claiming is free and makes the listing the clinic’s own; a subscription adds Featured placement, which is paid and says so.
Being listed isn't an endorsement. We don't verify clinical quality, and we say so on every results page. Check credentials, licensure, and fit directly with any provider you're considering.

Expert Reviewers
Each reviewer works inside their own licensed scope, and every reviewed page names who reviewed it.
Corrections
If something on this site is wrong, tell us. Email hello@drsensory.com with the page and what's incorrect. We check it, and if it's wrong we fix it and update the page date. How corrections work.
That applies to clinicians too. If you're a professional and we've mischaracterized something in your field, we'd rather hear it than not.
